About us
We started with a simple idea — only stock what we would actually recommend. Everything here is on the shelf because someone chose it, not because a catalogue offered it.
If you are not sure what you need, ask. We would rather point you at the right thing than sell you the wrong one.
We want to be able to answer for every single thing on the shelf, which is the only good reason left to buy from a shop rather than a search box.
How the shelves were chosen
At the start
A room and a delivery we could carry
We stocked what we could pay for outright. It kept the range small and it kept us out of trouble.
Early on
We dropped what we could not answer for
Somebody asked how a thing was made and we were reading the side of the box back to them. If we cannot answer it now, it does not go on the shelf.
A while in
We started taking the photographs ourselves
Supplier images made things look like something they were not, and the returns said so.
Now
The range shrinks as often as it grows
Things come off when they stop being the best example of what they are. It is a slower way to run a shop and a better one.
